How is APC UPS diagnosed?
To manually start a Self Test from the UPS:
- LCD Screen Models: Go to the “Test & Diags” menu, then select “Self Test”
- Legacy Models (No LCD Screen): Press and hold the “I/Test” button. After several seconds the UPS will switch to battery. You can then release the button and the test will continue to completion.

- Check the battery voltage using PowerChute plus. If the unit (non-XL) has been charging for 3 hours, the battery voltage should be around 27.6V or 55.6V depending on the Smart-UPS model.
- If possible, charge the unit for 24 hrs.
- Run a self-test.
- Turn the unit off and restart it.
